Lock Stock and Sparrow

Whitecross Road Part 2

We are very exciting to be moving to a prominent spot in Whitecross Road, just down from the seafront and Ellenborough Park. The shop used to be a print and sign shop and has lots of space, particularly for Mike to keep all of his tools out of sight! If you have lived in WsM long enough it also caused a stir in the 90’s when it opened as a sex shop….unfortunately in WsM sex obviously doesn’t sell! And as of yet we haven’t unearthed anything from its formative years other than a spot of boudoir red paint on the walls!

Mike and I have been talking for months about the move and what the front of the shop should look like. We have been set almost from the start that it is going to be Duck Egg Blue with slate grey lettering. We are going to be using Chalk Paint as the shop currently has UPVC windows and door and it will look fantastic.

Work has started on the inside of the shop. Mike has been busting a gut (with a little help from his friends) to take up the old carpet to unveil the floorboards underneath. So far unfortunately it has been a labour of love as the carpet had been glued down – arrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!  Next comes the exciting bit of choosing colours for the walls. We are going to be using a mixture of Annie Sloan wall paint and Chalk Paint to show a selection of the colours off. I will bring you updates and some sneaky peaks of the shop as it takes shape!
